This Association was created in 1998 by educators from the Protection Judiciaire de la Jeunesse (French state’s judicial youth protection body).
The aim of the Association is to develop different actions based on the needs of the different populations around the theme of “verticality” with the objective of:
- The social, professional, cultural and sporting integration of the beneficiaries.
- Putting to good use the benefits in terms of personal development and structuring that can be gained from climbing and mountain sports.
The project is entitled ‘Educational leisure activities for 5/21 year olds”.
The objective is to use climbing and mountain tools as educational aids, in a leisure activity context, to promote access to the related sports.
The objectives:
- Prevent risky behaviour in children from 7-18 by developing new behavioural patterns
- Learn to live together through leisure activities
- Highlight the value of their physical capacities and put them to good use
- Help young people discover the pleasure that can result from hard work and from exceeding oneself
- Discovering different cultures, different ways of living and different places.
The content of the climbing activity:
- The workshops:
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, they involve groups of 8 children. Certain then leave on more than 5-day trips, enabling them to discover different regions, countries and cultures.
Sessions last from 1h30 to 3 hours in the field.
There are support staff systematically in charge of each session.
These workshops and trips concern climbing and other related outdoor sports.
They involve around 250 children and 230 days.
